Configuring Email Accounts in Outlook

Follow these steps to configure Microsoft Outlook Express to receive and send email through your Device Media Web Hosting email accounts.

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. If you would like to password protect two or more accounts within Outlook set up an identity before creating each account.
  3. Select Tools > Accounts from the file menu at the top of the screen
  4. In the "Internet Accounts" dialog window that pops up, select Add > on the right hand side and click Mail...
  5. This will open the "Internet Connection Wizard", each step in the wizard is described below

Your Name
Enter your full name in the field marked display name and click the Next > button.

Internet Email Adress
Select the "I already have an email address that I would like to use" option and enter your email address in the field below (eg. yourname@yourdomain.com).
Click the Next > button to continue.

Email Server Names The top line should read: My incoming mail server is a POP3 server:".
In the Incoming Mail server field enter mail.yourdomain.com, replacing "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name.
In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server field you have two options:

  1. Enter the outgoing mail server supplied by your Internet Service Provider (ie. smtp.telus.net, shawmail, etc.)
  2. Enter mail.yourdomain.com, replacing "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name

The first option is prefered here. A growing number of ISP's will not allow users to send email through external outgoing mail servers. Using your ISP's outgoing mail server does not affect the appearance of the origin of you email. Click the Next > button to continue.

Internet Mail Logon
In the Account Name field enter the email address that you are setting the account up for (eg. yourname@yourdomain.com).
In the Password field enter the password for you email account and be sure that the checkbox beside "Remember Password" is checked.
Click the Next > button to continue.

Click the finish button to complete setting up your email account.
